Can you tell what sort of child your baby will turn into ?

I'm just interested really. My 7 month old is very active, vocal and loud (good in some ways, not in others). Some of the other babies in my ante natal group are quiet and less active. Some smile more, some whinge more so the usual stuff amongst babies. For those of you who've had several children, did your children surprise you after your experience with them as a baby?? I've often wondered if I'm going to have a nightmare loud and bolshy toddler from the baby I have - someone give me some reassurance?!!

not necessarily. dd was a demanding baby and a very confidant but well behaved toddler and she has grown up to be very quiet and sensitive!

Ds1 has always been quiet from day one, and is now developing a sense of humour and is one of the most popular in the class.

dt1 was very quiet, cuddly and affectionate, as a toddler he is a little bully! He bites, kicks, scratches, etc. I have to watch him like a hawk when we go out where there are other children.

dt2 was the grumpiest baby I have ever known and spent most of his time wailing and is now our little comedian and is extremely mischievious.

So don't count on anything!

Blimey, I'll have to watch this space !! Funnily enough (although some may laugh at me), he is a cancerian baby, so is his father, paternal grandfather and paternal greatgrandfather.....and they are all so similar in character (the grown up men I mean). All nice, gentle, quietly mischeivous men....

Dd used to sit in her bouncy chair and eyeball us looking like John Prescott in drag. She rarely spoke before two and could barely be bothered to walk until she was a good 18 months.
She is now a non-stop-chat-chat-chat-run-run-run bossy, shouty little flibbertygibbet.
I will say that looking at the photos now with hindsight you can see it all in those bold, beady eyes. But at the time we thought we were saddled with the pink velour version of an Easter Island Statue...

DS2 Fairly quiet, determined and a real kicker. 15 years on - still fairly quiet (not great language skills), hard worker and great sportsman

Good question Herbgarden...

I noticed this about my 7 month old DS a few weeks ago when I took him to be weighed - there were a few other babies in the waiting room all around the same age and DS wanted to be stood on me (As he usually does) and he was constantly looking around, jigging, smiling and making noises - all the other babies sat on their mums laps quietly and showed no interest in anything and didn't make a noise.

I am also hoping that I am not going to have a bolshy, stroppy toddly that runs away too - although now he has mastered crawling, I can see a future of constantly running after him beckoning.......

when i was pg, i read from some where probably some parenting mag. that dd will be the loudes child in playgroup. dh and i laughed. unfortunately she is indeed loudest child anywhere. what a coincident
also my friend`s dd was told to be the child ot likely hsare her toys. and surprise surprise, indeed she seems mine is mine, yours is mine,too
i never belive horoscope thingy but its funny that it actaully matches. i clearly remeber reading t and we all laughed. but it happens to be true.

Mmmm ceebee 74 I have the same issue - He wants to be standing on my knee constantly and his little face gets extremely excited when I oblige and starts pushing up and down wanting to jump. He babbles and shouts, giggles and laughs at not very much - he smiles at nearly everyone (very indiscriminate)...and when lying on the floor or on my lap is always kicking his feet.....It makes me feel exhausted thinking about what might be to come! There is no turning back now.

Have we got the same child....I am a first-time mum (don't know about you) and was really shocked by how inactive and quiet those other babies were and came away feeling really proud!!

Now he is crawling, I am wishing I had one of those inactive, quiet babies

Sounds exactly like my DS as well - he always seems to be the loudest baby in the room . Dread to think how fast he'll move once he gets the crawling thing sorted.

Yes, we have one whinger (boy), one serious (never smiles)(g), one quiet and clingy (g), two cute and funny (g's), one active like my ds but has bouts of screaming ab dabs (b)....so, all different!

swear my dd was trying her best to talk from day one she was definitely a very vocal baby, she was also a little wriggler when I was pregnant. now she's 2 she never shuts up and she's never still. who know what she'll be like in another 2 years. ;)
