Night terrors... Is it a thing?

We have just had a second disturbed night, which is very unusual for my little guy. He is preverbal, 2 years old, and is waking up crying at night. I change his nappy, give him a cuddle, soothe him off again, but last night... Nope. Not happening. I tried everything I could think of. His teeth are mostly through, so it could be teething still... but are night terrors a thing, and if so, at what age? How will I know? What can I do?!

Night terrors are definitely a thing. DD had them - she would wake up be screaming and talking and crying, but with no awareness of anything around her. It's as if they are hallucinating and you can't get them out of the hallucination. They look straight through you and carry on screaming and acting out this nightmare. Quite scary when it first happened but apparently v normal. Especially if they are brewing a temperature.
