Dd2 is so full of joy at everything (except nappy-changing!), I'm just looking for ideas for activities I may not have thought of.

Colouring, any sort of building activity like lego and stickle bricks, anything to do with toy cars. Also he has suddenly found his feet and loves to go walking anywhere, so local park, shops etc. We do one organised activity in the week which is tumble tots, which he quite enjoys but I find hard work tbh.

Another one who loves walking here. Its too cold for the park (we're in Canada) so we go to the mall where she loves shopping and going up and down stairs/escalators and lifts (if she can press the buttons).
Last week we went to a big DIY store where she spent a happy 20 mins examining and testing a large display of handles and door knobs. She would have stayed longer but I was bored rigid! She did add the word knob to her vocabulary though which dh and I find highly amusing to here her say (pair of children that we are)

well he's 20mo, but:

grabbing willy
pushing cars/trucks/tractors/anything with wheels
going down slides
running (anywhere, fast)
going up and down stairs grown-up style (alarming)
oh yes agree re pushing life buttons

Another vote for pootling around shopping centres, especially just at opening time when people are undoing the shutters. DS can watch that for ages! Swimming. furniture shops. John Lewis's toy department. Going on the bus (the train, bizarrely, is not as popular). Feeding the ducks - any ducks. Oh, and kite flying. We haven't yet tried bringing him to the B'ham airport, but think he'll probably love it - it's the next 'rainy day' activity.

For indoor activities, DS likes hoovering, dusting and chasing the exercise ball across the landing.

I think we're not doing enough outdoor stuff atm. Springtime will help. Dd2 loves getting things out of boxes/cupboards and investigating but the novelty of anything we have is wearing off. She enjoys cooking but it is a highspeed, chaotic operation, during which she manages to eat rather a lot.
Tutter, I tend to postpone stair use for as long as poss as it terrifies me!

Both mine loved playing with dry pasta at this age. I would put pasta in a saucepan on kitchen floor with wooden spoons, plastic bowls, jugs etc and they would love mixing, pouring etc. I would do this everry time I was in the kitchen and just sweep it all up at the end of the day! Also washing up bowl of water on kitchen floor with plastic stuff in for pouring, brushes for washing up etc, a bit messier but lots of fun. In fact both of mine liked standing on chair at sink and joining in washing up (just have to make sure they don't fall off!) J

Definitely pouring water. DD could go for hours doing that - even now she's 3! A selection of old yogurt cartons, funnels, plastic teapots etc. washing up bowl and big towel on kitchen floor. Might even get to read the paper...

Mine loves hitting the cat, running round the house, splashing in the bath, playing with toy food, duplo and the happy land stuff and eating.

ds is 20 mo. He loves:
going out for walks (particularly if he gets to see birds/ducks/cats/trains, go up and down steps or jump in puddles)
being read to, sharing books
'playing' our little casio keyboard, dancing to the (80s-tastic ) demo
playing at cooking with toy pans, at making tea with plastic tea set
making us build him stairs (see above) with building bricks
cuddling and kissing us and his cuddly toys
'drawing' with crayons
