I've got a 5 & 6 yo. They are generally well behaved but i find myself using a couple of techniques that they might be a bit old for when they are not doing what they are asked.

  1. Counting 1, 2, 3, ... or
  2. Bribing: if you don't do this you won't have such and such

Its normally for small things like tiding up, putting shoes on, but sometimes a bit more significant but still usual stuff e.g. fighting with each other or being mean to their pet.

What do you do? Any book/techniques you can recommend to get me ready for the summer holidays. .!!

Calmer, happier, easier parenting
Best book I have ever read, and I've read lots, on parenting
