DD followed 50%ile until 8 month check then dropped down to the 2nd%ile. HV wants to measure her again in 2 months. Family have normal sized heads. Anyone experienced this?

No, haven't experienced this. But, when DD was under paed re her weight, they looked at each %ile (head, height, weight) and were more interested in how they compared to each other than how they behaved individually. Don't know if this will have any relation, sorry if not!

I do Coj, but I dont want to worry you. My daughters head didnt grow in relation to her body and we had to have hers measured every couple of months before being refferred to a development paed. My daughter has now officially got microcephaly - which means small head/brain. My daughters development was slower than normal though and still is. What are her height and weight in relation to the growth charts? I think if everything is similar on the charts and she is developing normally there is usually nothing to worry. Is she rolling and sitting and trying to crawl now? My daughter does have special needs because of this, but people/children with microcephaly differ loads anyway....from no problems at all to profound. Please dont worry I am sure this happens to loads of people and turns out to be nothing.

Fio- thanks for telling me, have not heard of microcephaly.
Her dev seems to be normal in relation to physical Skills & language etc compared to others of her age. Her weight has always been on 50th & still is. Height dropped from 98th to 50th. On her 20wk ante-natal scan all the measurements were v dif. They put my due dates back, & even then she did not come & I had to be induced

My DS was 5 weeks premmie and had a smallish head circum, but they were more worried about a v small fontenella and so we had to go and get measured and checked every month. The concern was if the fontanella closed before he was 1 year old. As far as I can tell (communication is not all that clear with my German Dr) we are out of the woods, although size wise my DS is on the 5th for height and the 25th for weight for his age.
