Nappy change problems in 20 month year old

So it would be good to get some reassurance / another view on this one-

Recently my little girl has started really hating having her nappy changed, specifically when she has done a poo and there is muck in her front bits she screams and shouts no when you try and take a look and clean it out. She really clamps her legs shut so I end up having to prize them open and hold her down to clean her, which is horrid for both of us. It's really when cleaning her front bottom that's the problem, not her bum of you see what I mean.

Anyway, my question is- is this just a normal part of being a stubborn toddler or do you think there could be something more here? I almost don't want to say it as the thought is so horrible, but one thing did cross my mind which is what if someone at nursery is touching her there inappropriately and it's causing this response?

She goes to nursery for 3 days and seems happy there so I have no other cause for concern.

Hopeful it's just my over active worry centre at play here and nothing worse- but what do you think?? Now I've thought it I am getting a bit worried about it sad

My DS is 20 months and absolutely hates having his nappy done.
Wee or poo.

He runs away the second he sees me gathering the supplies together, and he screams and wriggles, cries, hits, kicks, once he even tried to bite me the whole way through. Right up until the clean nappy is in place, then he's fine.

No idea when it started. He just hates it.

Sorry, I can't help on whether she is reacting to something untoward. But just wanted to say how my DS is just to show it isn't as normal behaviour.
DS doesn't go to nursery so I know it isn't a possibility of anything happening as he is here with me.

Could you take her to the doc to check nothing is sore? Could she have a urine infection?

Thanks ladies, good advice and some reassurance that they can just be little sh*ts at this age!!

My two year old is exactly the same, she shouts no don't touch when you try to clean her front, it's pretty awful. She suffers from nappy rash and thrush due to being on medicine to make her go to the toilet. I am pretty certain she hates it because it doesn't feel great, even when she isn't suffering she still doesn't like it. your daughter might have a slight infection or thrush?

My DS (2.5) is the same. I try to distract him with a toy that he hasn't seen in a while, or do a stand up nappy change (wees only!) with a book to read on the sofa in front of him. My DD (now 4.5) was exactly the same. My guess is that it's just a two year old, wanting to be in control thing...

But I didn't say I thought she was being a little shit.

I said I thought it sounded like she was in pain and you should go to the GP to rule out any possible infection.

DS is a bit like this at the moment, though not quite as extreme and not for every change.

Bribery works well for us - he gets to watch an episode of Raa Raa or Peter Rabbit on my phone, which is normally out of bounds. He is thrilled and lays back, holding it for as long as I need to clean up and change.

I meant to say, he is 20 months.

I changed to pull ups and changed him standing up watching peppa pig and moved to pull ups.
