I have an 8 year old DD and never had any issues but now have a 2.4 year old DS and a 1 year old DD. He doesn't listen to me when I ask him to do something or follow instructions, he had tantrums over all sorts, not allowed something, asked to do something etc. No issues with bedtimes and is pretty good with his meals (if wont eat tea then I don't force him or make a big deal but he gets nothing else).

I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong? I certainly don't over indulge him or facilitate his tantrums I just walk away and they are pretty short lived. I just don't know how to get him to listen to me or do things I ask? If I ask him to pass me something or put something somewhere he does it.

Also I couldn't open my gate and let him go as he would run off and with a 1 year old I have a double buggy so he goes in that for ease when I'm out by myself, I do have a little back pack with reins but he hates it, he will walk no problem if I hold his hand but obviously hard with the little one too.

Anyway any tips please? I feel like I'm totally failing and he starts pre school in January Sad

That all sounds pretty normal, Cersei. I can't see any cause for concern really. And it sounds like you're doing all the right things. Just keep on, and remember when he's tantrumming that 'this too shall pass'.

I agree with pippi; sounds completely normal to me. Very like my DS (2.5) and DD (now 4.5) before him.
Have you tried carrying baby DD in a front/back carrier so that you have free hands for DS?
