Toddler eating less and less

DS age 21 months has never been the best eater (I've posted about this before) but he's getting worse and worse and is eating less and less foods. He's gone off firm favourites and pretty much every meal is a battle.

I made him an omelette tonight which he usually enjoys and he had one bite then wouldn't entertain the rest.
It's like that with most stuff, he'll either refuse to touch it or have a bite then stop.
He will eat a small selection of foods like sausages, beans, potatoes etc but the list is getting smaller.
I always make him what we have and try new things all the time with little success.

Please tell me it's a phase and it'll get better. I'm worried about his health as its not just that he won't eat certain types of food, he has a small appetite too so isn't eating big quantities of what he will eat either.

I know they say they will eat if they are hungry but even if I know he's hungry he will not touch it if he decides he doesn't want it. Oh and he throws it on the floor or throws a tantrum if it's in front of him too long.

I'm at my wits end. He's so chilled out with everything else, a really happy, bright child but meal times are just a nightmare.

Please help!

I've posted on lots of your threads before as my DD is the same age and we seem to have lots of the same issues :) DD was exactly the same, we did BLW and at 11 months ate everything, at 20 months was living off beans potato waffles and sheer stubbornness. Today she stole my chicken and avocado sandwich at lunch, this week she has eaten celery, mushrooms, carrots, all sorts of things she would have chucked on the floor and screamed at even a few weeks ago. It is tough! But my experience is that it really is just a phase and getting stressed solves nothing.

Thank you. I feel like a broken record with this!
That is reassuring. Every now and then DS will surprise me by eating something he wouldn't normally, but then refuse it point blank the next day.
I know I shouldn't get stressed but it's sooooo frustrating!

Don't know spandex tbh I haven't had him weighed in ages.
He used to be a bit of a chubster but he has definitely slimmed down recently. I wouldn't say he was skinny though.
