If anyone had a baby with reflux, please can you tell me what treatment worked (medication, formula, inclined chairs or other products)? I'm so worried about this. I'm seeing the gp but it would be useful to know what treatments might be available. Thank you!

Dd suffered badly with reflux. We got ranitidine then omeprazole from the doctor.

Things got a bit better when she could sit up on her own at 9 months.

She's got cows milk protein intolerance so is dairy and soya free (as am I as still bf).

Hope you manage to get it sorted, it was a horrendous time for us seeing our baby in pain.

We bought a reflux wedge as well.

Both of mine have had reflux, different things worked for them. DS1 had gaviscon and carobel to thicken his formula (needed lactose free formula).

DS2 was a lot worse, in and out of hospital for the first 6 months, barium swallow tests, the works. We tried ranitidine (didn't work), eventually 20mg of omeprazole helped. He was also CMPI and needed Neocate formula (tried nutramigen but this wasn't as effective as Neocate). There was a marked improvement from 9 months when he could sit and was getting a lot more solid food. I also found the baby bjorn chair in its highest position an absolute godsend to keep him in after feeds as it was very elevated.

Good luck, it's not an easy process Thanks

I should also say that while it's a worrying time, there is light at the end of the tunnel. My youngest, who really was poorly at the time is now a bouncy, perfectly content toddler with absolutely no ill effects. If somebody had been able to tell me that at the time it would have saved me a lot of worry!!

Thank you! It's so so upsetting. Roll on solid food!

Sitting up and solid food was the only thing that sorted it for my DD as well. It is hard but doesn't seem to have lasting effects.
We found walking up and down the stairs with her would calm her down during those long colicky evenings

Another CMPA baby here!! Aptamil Pepti, infant gaviscon and omeprazole for us.

If your little one seems on pain I'd suggest looking at the symptoms for CMPA before your appointment.

I wrote down a list of symptoms with DD which was over and above just reflux. Hope your little one is ok and you get some help!

I bought the Tuckers wedge for the day time which was very expensive but worth it, looking back. DD outgrew it pretty quickly though.
For the nighttime, we tried a foam wedge pillow but she kept rolling down and off it so instead we put lots f books under two of the cot legs to elevate it at the head end.
Didn't use the pram / pushchair at all - used a sling instead (Boba).
Tried baby gaviscon but it didn't help.

Neocate formula prescribed by the professionals. Please speak to doctor about this, we tried all the different meds and it didn't help and when they prescribed this formula it worked for my son! He had it so bad and this stuff was amazing!

Omeprazol for the reflux plus switching to nutramigen formula for all feeds. Keeping her upright after feeds. Tipping cot up (stick a couple of books under the cot feet at one end). And weaning at 4 months.

Our 2.5 yr old DD is now a happy, strong and healthy girl with a huge appetite.

Wish you all the luck to get your LO sorted asap.

Ranitidine and cow and gate anti reflux formula. We were referred to hospital as he was so distressed with the pain. Was like a new child after a couple of days on it and had weaned him off by 1 year as thing improved dramatically with solids/crawling and general growing up. He still is sick but not in pain with it. Hope you get sorted.
