dd (17 months) has been off colour all week, sniffles, temperature, off her food. For the last 2 days she has been extremely clingy, only wanting me, crying when i put her down etc.She has also been up in the night for last 2 nights (not like her) . This afternoon she has been a lot better. her temp is normal and she has had some tea. i put her to bed at normal time but now she is awake, crying on and off.

when she was poorly i got her up and brought her down forcuddles and calpol. Now I think he may be trying her luck to come down or cos she wabnts company. I checked her half an hour ago and she wasn't ill or fevered but she is still crying off and on. Should I go in to her again?

I would, but only because she may be feeling a little off colour still. One extra night of mummy cuddles wont hurt

No I'd say don't and that she'll gain more security from the usual boundaries than she will from relaxing the 'rules'.

i feel awful hearing her cry and keep on saying to myself, right if she's still going in 2 mins I'll go in to her. Then as the two minutes are up, she tails off for a couple of minutes and then starts crying again!

I would go to her, I doubt she's trying to be manipulative. As Elf says, she's probably still feeling a bit off colour and one extra night of cuddles won't hurt.

dd now sitting on my knee, lively as a button. As soon as I picked her up, she started pointing to the cow picture on her walls and mooing! Not manipulating me , eh Tatties! I am such a softy!

Lol, this has just happened to me. I have been very lenient with 2yo ds as he has had a bad cough and a cold and he is now playing me for a real mug. Just went up to him as he was crying for me, and he had actually climbed into his wardrobe and pulled a poster off the wall. You give them an inch........

lol! She is just pleased to see you

I always go to ds in this situation, but I don't bring him downstairs. I lie down with him in his bed until he settles down... Sometimes he does muck about and acts wide awake but usually if I just lie down and wait he gets the message eventually. And every time it happens I think he'll be doing it every night, but he doesn't. I think some nights he's genuinely more restless than others.

Hope you get your evening back soon

Bless your DD.

She sounds like my DD (2ys) Its hard to know what to do for the best when/after they have been ill.

She might just be after some more awake time with mummy as she has not been good for the last few days. They are so cute when they do this though.

Oh yes, ds often has me in stitches on the nights he won't settle, it's actually very cute and funny and then I think now just GO TO SLEEP!
