4.6yr old wakes EVERY night

Whilst she's never been a great sleeper, I am now in the position where DD2 wakes every night, anytime between 11pm and 4am. There seems to be nothing disturbing her to wake her nor any pattern to the waking. She pads into our bedroom, to wake me. I silently get up, take her back to bedroom, and resettle her. 9 times out of 10 this works, but occasionally (as last night) she lies awake for an hour or more. As long as there is someone in the room she is quiet, and eventually falls asleep again.

On speaking with her to determine why she wakes and disturbs me, I am told that it's because it's dark. We have addressed this by buying a fairy nightlight, to 'look after' her whilst asleep. Hasn't worked.

Any other ideas of how to break this habit?

TIA

Mine have had (at various points) CD player with audiobooks / music (Frozen currently very popular with my 4yo), nightlight, light up cuddly toy (Go Glow Pal was the brand, I think), door open and landing light on. And a grumpy response from me if they come in to our room without a good reason Grin

Oh, and a Groclock so they know for certain when it's OK to get up. It also helps as they worked out that lots of stars meant middle of the night and one star meant nearly morning, even before they could tell the time.

Sticker chart with reward for 5 nights of not waking you?

Yep, we have the gro clock, a light up frog which she knows how to operate and a musical giraffe (ditto).

The reward chart is something I toy with from time to time, but I'm never wholly convinced it will work as I don't think she's driven by that sense of achievement. I may be proved wrong though, so will source some suitable stickers and try to implement!

Mine wakes us up occasionally to take her to the toilet even though she can well go by herself.
We bribe her with a daily episode of Paw Patrol( current fav) to not wake us or her little sister. Works well!
