I know everyone is different and I want to respect my dd and what she likes/doesn't like but I can't help feeling robbed as my only child hates being kissed! She's otherwise very affectionate and loves cuddles, snuggling up to me and all the other stuff and is generally very comfortable in her skin but physically recoils when I kiss the top of her head. She's been like this for years but only recently verbalised it - so I'm not doing it but thought I'd check if anyone else has experienced this and what they think about it??? Thanks.

I was like that - I was forever getting into trouble with my parents because when they tried to kiss me, I ducked my head and they got a mouthful of hair. I'm still not keen on social kissing, unless it's my partner!!

So long as she is affectionate in other ways, I wouldn't worry about it and just focus on those.

Yes I was like this too, don't want other peoples saliver on me, even if it was my mothers. Just a quirk.

My younger sister still at 22 kisses my mum on the cheek before bed each night bit I can't remember the last time I did, must have been when I was very young.
My OH's family all kiss hello and goodbye and even after 16 yrs together I find it awkward.

If she likes a cuddle I wouldn't worry as I think a good cuddle is much nicer than a quick kiss.

Joining the non-kissers here. I also found it gross.

DD1 (13) has been like this for years, DD2 is almost 9 and still likes kisses.
