How to get baby to drink enough now not using bottles?!!

Hi DS1 is approaching a year old and my HV has said I need to be getting rid of his bottles and using a sippy cup. He only takes a night bottle and early morning bottle, sipping water through the day. My worry is that he literally does just take sips and clearly if I put his bedtime milk into a cup he will have less than an once rather than his usual 6oz. I'm curious what you other mums do? Surely they are never going to drink as much from a cup as they do downing a bottle?!! X

My DS (21 months) drinks out of these. Yeah technically it is still a bottle but honestly, I'm more bothered about him drinking enough than what he drinks out of.

He will drink as much as he needs to drink. No, he won't take as much, but part of the sucking on a bottle is comfort, and the milk is an added bonus. It is highly unlikely that your baby will let himself get dehydrated, and take as much as he needs from sippy cups.

Sips through the day and watery food like cucumber and pear are fine. You might find he starts to drink more once more used to a sippy.

It's normal for them to drink less when they stop having a bottle and start relying more on solids. Don't worry OP, he'll be fine.
