Grinding teeth misery - advice needed!

I've just discovered that my DD of 17 months grinds her teeth while she sleeps. I've only noticed it now that she's unwell and I'm spending more time checking in on her and each time after she coughs, she grinds here teeth.
It is an awful sound and I'm worried about what she may be doing to her baby teeth.
She's not used a dummy in almost a year but would it help for me to stick something in her mouth to stop her grinding or would that be more detrimental?

I think you can get a special "mouthguard" for her to wear when she is asleep. I think you need to speak to your dentist.

It is surprisingly common. A dentist won't give a 17 monht old a night guard. It sounds horrible but it won't damage her teeth. Long term gringing of adult teeth cn cause damage. Often they just gro out of it. Do go and see your dentist if you are concened but they will just ressure you and monitor the situation. If she isn't using a dummy already I wouldn't intrduce one at this late stage. She probably wouldn't taketo using one anyway.

Thanks for the advice... I think I was thinking of a mouthguard but was worried it might impede her breathing.
I'll just let it go a few days and see if she stops when she stops coughing.
