Crazy hungry toddler help!

Dd (3) is crazy hungry, the last few days we have had tears with screams of im hungry.

Today as an example she had half a slice of toast with peanut butter at home followed by breakfast of cereal and toast at nursery, lunch was sausage and mash potato she had two helpings no pudding then tea was macaroni cheese and peaches for pudding again two helpings of both at nursery and two snacks, got home she says she is still hungry, she ate two soft boiled eggs and two slices of bread and 15 minutes later we have had tears because she is hungry.

We are only offering boring things like toast or normal fruit and have cut out any treats (which are infrequent) but she is still insistent she is hungry.

Her weight is normal and she has always been a good rater but this last two weeks she has eaten us out of house and home as well as doubling up on most meals at nursery.

Is this a normal growth spurt or are we doing something to create an overwater?!?!?

Watching with interest....my 3yo dd is the same. Some days I just can't fill her up and it feels like I spend my entire day in the kitchen preparing food.

It's nuts isn't it! I am wondering if it's just a growth spurt and if i should say no but then I don't want to deprive her if she is genuinely hungry

Aaaaaaa toddlers!!!!

Growth spurt. I use to think it a myth it really isn't.
Ds2 is worse than ds1 when he has one there us no filling him he really does eat us out of house and home! Along with stroppy behaviour. Lasts 2-3 days.
He once out grew his school trousers in a night (length ways not girth)

Growth spurt.

I'd change all that wheat for oatabix, porridge, rye bread, veg sticks, Greek yogurt to be healthier.

Often small children can confuse hunger and thirst, so try giving her a drink before food and see what happens??

Both my skint rabbits of DDs were ravenous as toddlers, DD2 still is sometimes at 7.

I used to try offering a drink first if I thought they had eaten enough then distract for as long as possible with a game or story whatever works best for your child.

If they still asked for food, I'd do something protein based, scrambled egg strips of ham, cheese or something similar.

Always had little pots of veggy batons, breadsticks etc ready just in case.

It's hard to refuse if you are not sure and I hated feeling I was depriving them.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips!

Porridge for brekkie for us both and more water before meals :)

I did give her milk this evening when she said she was hungry and that sent her off to bed happy (after a good tooth brush) so will try that more often.
