Responsiveness after being separated

My child has just turned 12 months. He's always been smiley and a happy child and for the last few months whenever he has been apart from me or his father he would be very pleased to see us and smile and want cuddles when we came back. The last couple of weeks he's stopped doing this and when we come back it is like he has stopped realising we've been away. He's still smiley when we get him up in the morning or after nap time but not after being separated. I know a couple of weeks isn't much time but there is autism in my family so I'm worried. Is this normal, no longer being pleased to see us after time apart?

My Dd was the same at this age. I remember I'd leave her with MIL for a few hours and when I came back there was NO reception. No greeting...nothing!

I think it's normal. Have you done the mchat test? That's always a very good indicator to set your mind at rest re autism,.

Thanks, will look into that. He seems more smiley this week, so think I over reacted.
