When did your baby's eyes change colour ?

Just wondering at what age you noticed your child's eyes changing colour ?

My DP and I both have dark brown eyes. Our 6 week old baby son has blue/gray eyes. At the moment, they have shown no signs of getting darker so I am wondering if they will stay light.

Has anybody else had a baby that has lighter eyes that turned brown...or do they generally start off navy blue if they are going to change ?

DH & I both have blue eyes, DD had blue eyes that went green when she was about 3 years old.

They never actually changed just became a deeper blue....I thought she might have hazel eyes like me.

Very gradual change to dark brown by about 18 months, thought he was going to stick at two-tone for a while!

Interesting, HavetoWearHeels; that exact thing happened to dd when she was 4!

They haven't yet, she's 1 next week and has bright blue eyes. Mine are dark brown and I thought she'd be more likely to inherit them than DH's blue ones. She is very fair though whereas I am darker.

Flogging glad to hear it happened to someone else, I was beginning to think she might have been swapped at birth if she wasn't such a Mini Me !

DS1 had dark blue eyes at birth. They got lighter in his first year and then, very oddly, aged about 2-3 years old they changed to greeny-blue like my DH's!

DS2 also born with dark blue eyes. His eyes turned blue and have stayed blue (despite my DH having greeny-blue eyes and me having brown Hmm)

My DD has dark brown eyes & even when a newborn with the usual newborn blue grey, they were very dark & it was obvious they would end up brown, which they did at about 5 weeks - could have gone either way though, but we just knew the minute she was born by how dark they were

DD had grey-blue eyes at birth, and they gradually went much greyer, just like Miaow's DD. Even at nearly 3 they are still changing. I think they will eventually end up hazel like mine, but at the moment they are a lovely sort of grey-green-brown. They get a lot of comments. But looking back over photos I can see how much more they were grey when she was younger.

Picturing the babies I know, those with a startling bright blue tend to stay blue, and I know a few who were born with almost navy blue eyes that you just knew would turn brown quite soon.

Both me and dh have very dark eyes. Ds has bright blue eyes, dd has dark blue eyes still at one. However they seem to be changing....

sister changed at 2/3 years old from blue to hazel.
On that note, my father went from blond to pitch black hair around 6

DD was born with dark blue/grey eyes, I assumed they'd quickly change to brown since both me and DH have brown eyes. She's 13 months and her eyes are still exactly the same. May yet change, though.

My ds was born with dark blue eyes but they started looking brownish after a few weeks. They were a definite greeny brown by about 5 months old.

I have green eyes and Dh has brown eyes.

My daughter's eyes started blue, then changed to a kind of stormy grey colour between 1-2, and now, at 2.6, are changing again to a kind of greeny hazel. Her hair was dark at birth and has now lightened to a mousy colour. She is still very Mediterranean skinned, though, which has lasted since birth.

My daughters were blue when born I thought they would stay that way but there now green. They started changing around a year looking back at old pictures. Im suprised they turned Green as my family are all blue eyed and exs are brown/ blue.

dh and I both have brown eyes. With dd1 we waited and waited and waited for her blue eyes to change colour and guess what they are still blue at 5! dd2 they were a totally different dark blue colour and went Brown pretty quickly.

It's perfectly normal for two people with Brown eyes to have a baby with blue cos it's recessive Smile .

Thanks for your replies, it's been a very interesting read ! I really thought my son would be dark eyed like my partner and I but guess he may stay blue - or change when he's a bit older.
