Bed wetting 7year old recs for bedmats/sheets etc

Anyone recommend an alternative to the sweaty disposable bedmats? Ds1 is 7.5 and is dry about half the week. We lift him. We've tried alarms etc which didn't work for him. Am reluctant to have him referred as I don't want him on meds as the problem isn't awful, we have some success. He often wets in the night and doesn't wake me - if he has a mat above the bedding he could just chuck it off the bed and settle back down (I know this is grim but better than him sleeping in the corner of a wet bed which is what he does at the moment). So anybody know of anything good? TIA

Hello Must. I use a couple of washable bed mats from BabysrUs. I have a mattress protector on, then a sheet, then bed mat, then another sheet. If bed gets wet, whip of top sheet and bed mat, and back to sleep. Might be a bit much for him to do himself, but takes only seconds in the dead of night.

Thank you soup. I've tried the double layering but as you said too hard for him to manage. What I want is an on top of sheet kinda thing that's heavy enough to stay in place IYSWIM.

You might find something suitable by googling 'disability living aids' There are various online shops that sell lots of things like that for the elderly etc and may be more reasonably priced then the disposable kids ones.

My grandson was referred by Gp and was initially given a drinks chart as he was drinking 'too much' during the day. He was told to drink only water or milk, to have his last drink one hour before bed and to make that no more than 150ml water. He was dry for 8 weeks after the initial week which was a bit patchy. He had one wet night after a very exciting, tiring day but the doctor thinks he should manage without a buzzer mat now. He will be 8 in September.

Google Brolly Sheets - we've got those and they are really good, they stay in place, they are a good size and they come in nice colours
