How can I break the habit of holding DD to sleep?

Why does she sometimes get so upset and hysterical when I try to put her down for a nap? Is she overtired? What can I do?

Can I change her timings - she wakes at 5.15am and goes to bed 6.15pm - I would like to shift this all back an hour or two.

She seems tired all day but won't sleep without help and often fights naps - what can I do?

Hi there, My daughter was a terrible sleeper and napper and never really learned to settle herself until she was 15 months. Some babies are just worse or better sleepers than others.

There are things though, that we discovered that you can do to help her self soothe without the crying. If you get her into a really sleepy state through baby massage and acupressure 'sleep inducing point' we found our daughter nodded off so much quicker and slept deeper too. - it's a great technique for when she's over tired.

Also for separation anxiety we used Bach flower remedies (not sure your stance on this) but we had great results and she's such a happy contented child now.

Also, when we moved evening and nap times, we always did 15 minutes a day so it was a gradual process.

If you're interested - here's my blog post on these techniques -
Good luck

Hi pocket I have a 10 month old and we have only just got to the point where he sleeps through the night so you are doing ok !
What seemed to help us with settling him awake at bedtime was doing everything we could to keep nap times consistent, making sure the bedtime routine was set in stone and making sure he played in the cot during daytimes.
You may be doing all that already..
