Anyone ever heard of a baby getting all its teeth before 2yo??

DS1 is 16.5 months old. He currently has 16 teeth (basically, all of them except for the back 4 molars). He got the last ones, his 4 canines, at 15mo (that was a fun fortnight!).

I thought we would have a break from teething for a few months now, cos everyone has told me they didn't get the back 4 molars until they were 2 years old at least.

But now he is exhibiting signs of teething again: off his food, crying and clawing at his mouth at meal times, waking up at 4am crying (he normally sleeps through), and waking up for the day earlier than usual (anytime from 0530) and being very upset when he wakes up.

He has also started having the mother of all tantrums several times a day for no apparent reason. Complete hysterical meltdowns that come out of nowhere when he is well rested (just napped for example) and dry nappy etc. It's like he has gone completely mental! Dragging himself along the floor screaming till he is red in the face and retching :(

I am wondering if this is just a delightful developmental phase, or could he really be getting his final molars through at just shy of 17mo?? ANyone heard of this before?

oh - and nurofen usually gets him back off to sleep in the night, but doesn't seem to help much when he wakes in the morning, or when the meltdowns strike during the day. So it seems like teething at night, but in the day the pain is so bad nurofen doesn't touch it? Or he's not in pain at all and has just taken to spending 60% of his awake time rolling round screaming for no reason???

My DS got his first 16 teeth by 14 months, then had a rest, then the last 4 came through all at once the week of his 2nd birthday.
Teething with him was horrendous for every single tooth :(

He's just got his first adult molars at 5.5yrs and he did the whole teething thing AGAIN with this lot, grumpy, temperatures, poorly tummy etc. We alternated ibuprofen and paracetamol, used teething powders and anbesol liquid.

I'm hoping he has a bit of a rest again now :(

Mine had them all before 2. Second dd is currently getting her first adult molars on both sides and she is 4. At least she can tell me where the pain is! I felt really stupid after I took her to the dentist thinking she must have cavities and the dentist was "come and see, she has two molars coming through". Duh!

Teeth come through at different times. You just can't tell. I go try wisdom teeth when I was 13.

Dd will be 2 in a few weeks. Her last molar finished coming through about a month ago. She has had at least one new tooth every month for the past year. Life gets a lot easier once it's finally over.

We had 16 teeth by 19m and then seemed to teeth again soon after, but any investigation is met with bitten fingers so i dont know how many we have now.

My dd1 did. She started to lose them early as well, well before she turned five. Now she is ten she her adult teeth have come up down years earlier then average, meaning orthodontic treatment and braces to try and make enough room in her mouth.

Almost 16 at 14mo here. Last canines are just popping (we've had the temp and drool already. Just need the teeth).

Teething was over and done with by 21 months, which gave me a whole 6 month gap before DC2 started. I seem to have early teethers!

My dd had 2 teeth at 3 months, all her teeth before 2 yrs. she lost her first teeth before she was 5 and surprised the dentist by having her adult molars at just turned 5.

My twins got a lot of teeth very quickly. Both got their first teeth at 9 months and by 18 months they both had 16 each. 9 months and 16 teeth!

I have noticed that DTD1 is dribbling and grumpy and I am wondering of her back molars are starting to come through now.

A friends DS had all his teeth by 18 months.
