Newborns sleep

I have 1 dc but can't remember the newborn phase too much. It all seems like a blur.

Dc2 is only a few days old and is adorable, content and so cute. She mostly feeds and naps on and off all day I am breast feeding, although she often doesn't seem satisfied by what I'm producing. I'm feeding on demand and she is usually wanting to be fed every 3ish hours through the day. She's then awake for a short time and then falls asleep.

When it gets to the evening, usually about 7/8pm, she is much more awake, feeds on and off until about midnight and will then sleep Til about 3am, feeds Til 4am then sleeps another couple of hours. She can be quite restless until midnight and cannot be settled in her crib. I just wondered if this sounds typical of a newborn? Will she eventually shift her sleep pattern and start sleeping between 7/8pm and midnight? Is there anything I need to do to help/encourage this to happen?

Thanks.

I have a 16 day old and it sounds pretty similar to me. Not sure if there's anything we can do apart from keep trying to settle them and hope their patterns change

Oops pressed send too soon. My DD is 7 weeks old and still has a similar pattern. She is very unsettled between 6 pm and 11 pm and feeds on and off. Spoke to a friend about it yesterday and her daughter was like this until about 14 weeks

ditto!!
my 13 day old ds is exactly the same. i have to wake him in the day to feed every 3 hours or so and he might open his eyes for 5 mins or so but apart from that he sleeps all day then wakes about 8pm and feeds/wriggles around every 90 mins or so till 7am.in the morning.!!!
tho on the plus side it does make the days slightly easier as he sleeps all day i can get stuff done with dd!!
