20 month old spitting out food

My DS (2.2) does this when something takes too long to chew e.g., raw carrot. He'll munch and munch then spit it out, even though at that point he could easily have swallowed. Other days he'll eat it. Also chewy meat. Or if he takes too much in his mouth at once, or if he decides he doesn't like it. Yes, very annoying. At one point I was trying to get him to at least spit into a tissue but then sometimes he'll eat it again in smaller portions (and to be honest I've got bigger battles!).

My DS does this too, and he's 2.3.

He does it when he's already full but for some reason decides to cram more into his mouth. Or when there's something he doesn't like but can't pick out.

I wouldn't worry, as long as he's eating enough generally.

So glad my ds is not the only one to do this.
I am sure he is not taking mouthfuls that are too big most of the time.
He sometimes swallows and sometimes spits! I had thought it might be the texture thing and maybe laziness with some things taking more time to chew!
Thank you so much for the reassurance. Will keep my fingers crossed this gets better.

My ds is two next week and does this. He's done it for quite some time. He's always been texture sensitive and I think it's a combination of that, laziness and teething.. It's definitely got better as he's got older and last week he ate a whole apple without spitting any out which was unheard of a few months ago.
I've worried myself stupid about it, also about his dislike of certain textures and I can honestly say I probably shouldn't have as he seems to be getting on fine now.

Is he taking very large mouthfuls do you think? My DD goes through odd phases where she seems to try to be a hamster and inevitably it ends with her having to spit the offending item out. Annoying but, in our case, clearly experimental!

I have a 20 month old son who, like most toddlers, has days when he eats really well and days when he eats very little. For a while now he has been chewing certain foods and then spitting them out instead of swallowing. This happens mostly with bread but also with other foods and is happening more and more. Should I be worried? It doesn't happen every meal time but it is starting to worry me.
