Hi all
I really need help/confirmation about my 3 month old baby. I have always been an anxious person but lately the levels are through the roof and its because she started doing this strange type of spasm where she would pull her legs and kind of lift her little head. We too her to see the doctor who explained that she's got wind and constipation making her have these periodic type spasmy things. Anyway on Saturday night I googled it and came across this horrific site about infantile spasms which are very devastating mini type seizures which stop development etc. I got myself into such a state I filmed her doing them and my husband got do tired if my crying and performing that we too her to a and e in the very early hours of the morning. A paediatrician saw her and watched the videos and promised me that what she was doing is normal and not these awful things so off we went. I still didn't believe it and when we got home I couldn't even be with my poor daughter my husband had to keep her and bring her to me to feed as she is exclusively breastfed. On Monday we took her to see another doctor as I wasn't convinced who again promised me she is fine, just learning how to use her body etc. I still don't believe it and now because I watched the videos of these babies with infantile spasms whatever she does I see her doing something similar to the videos when deep down I know she doesn't have it. Tonight she has woken up a few times writing around in her cot and kind of flinging her arms everywhere. I am seeing my doctor on Thursday again as they are worried about me but I just want to know if this sounds normal for a three month old? She is a very healthy bsby otherwise, good size etc and not has met all milestones. I just feel like I'm going crazy. I am absolutely terrified everytime she has one of these little things. I mean she often turns to one side and almost like she's trying to roll over and if you pull her back she kind of gets a big fright and does the Noro reflex but she does this in her sleep sometimes as well. I just hope it's normal that she is learning how her little body works but I just can't get this out of my head and feel like I'm losing it very slowly. Thanks for reading!

It sounds completely normal to me. Both of my dds have done the leg spasm thing when they have had trapped wind and it does gradually stop (completely stopped by about 4mo if I recall correctly).

Dd1 did the rolling and nori reflex much more than dd2 but dd2 still isn't really rolling at 6mo so that's probably why!

I would really recommend avoiding google in future as it's easy to scare yourself. Try to enjoy your little baby smile

In a year you'll be saying "Ahh do you remember when she was tiny and used to do that thing with her legs..."

It sounds completely normal but given 3 different doctors have told you this, I am not sure we are going to relieve your anxiety. I am glad you are going to the doctor as it does sound like your anxiety is starting to take over your life. Good luck with the GP.
