Road safety with 4yr old

My son is 4 yrs old and he just runs on the road thinks he's superman and try's to stop the cars. His nursery had a word with him and that calmed him down but since yesterday he's started again. I am at the end of my tether any advice would be appreciated Hmm

ermm keep hold of his hand when next to the road?

If necessary use a littlelife backpack.

He's too young to be expected to appreciate road safety at all times. Hold his hand, offer reward for whole walk when he stays beside you away from kerb. Our local road safety team teaches in schools in KS2.
