My Ds has always been a good sleeper but recently when we put him to bed he rolling up and down his cot being v vocal and has started crying out. Weve been in to him- mainly because its so unusal. Once we got him up as after going in and leaving he got realky distressed.Last night we just got him up and sat with hin for a while. He settled when we left. Im worried by constantly doing this he Will expect it rather than him needing it. He sleeps 1 to 2'hrs afer lunch and he used to be in bed by 7.30 latest however this has got later and its now nearer 8 primarily because lighter night and he doesnt seem tired ( although hes more hyper).Im wondering is he over tired and should actually be in be earlier ( at the moment he doesnt drop off till 9ish) or should i shorten his nap or do nothing and hope its a phase?

watching as we're in a similar position with DS who is 2.2 who has always been a good sleeper at night but only been easy for naps in the last few months.

He's only been in his own room for a month and seems to have regressed from being happy to say goodnight and for us to leave to suddenly crying and wanting us to give one last cuddle, hold his hand etc. I personally think it's a combination of wanting attention (especially as he has a newish sibling of 6 months), perhaps feeling disconnected from us as tensions have been raised during the day but mostly I think he's annoyed that life goes on beyond bedtime and he wants to stay up and have more fun! I think this is a prime age for 'stalling' at bedtime

I've no real advice as I'm looking for a solution as well but from experience I would say acting hyper is a symptom of tiredness/over-tiredness (I think they go full circle and don't feel sleepy but bounce off the walls instead) - personally I wouldn't cut the nap short unless it is running beyond about 4pm but then having had a bad napper/cranky pants from day one I take the advice to never wake a sleeping baby very seriously!

hopefully someone will be along in a bit with some actual advice. .it might be worth posting on the sleep board as well Smile
