At my wits end with DS

DS is 5 and dice he started in yr 1 his behaviour has rapidly gone down hill. Mostly in the form of lashing out at his sisters over minor things, annoying other people if he is bored or they're doing something he can't do.

Moving on to today, I was just in the middle of an important phone call to bank when he walked in and asked for an ice cream (he had already had one after lunch), I motioned that I was on the phone, so he asked again louder. I interrupted the call to tell him to wait because I was on the phone. He then screed at the top of his voice that he wanted an ice cream and went to kick me Shock.

I hung the call up and utterly lost it with him. He's now in his bedroom and isn't going out with MIL this afternoon as planned. He's currently screaming and kicking his door!!!

Any advice please..?

Yr 1 does appear to be the time when your little angel turns into a boundary pusher.
The only thing I can advise is that you stick to your guns re rules just so that he knows where he stands.

I think you did the right thing and as long as you are consistent and follow through with any threatened sanctions you will prevail!

I have exactly the same trouble with my 5 year old ds. it is so tiring dealing with it day in and day out. I have been told to stick to my rules and wait for him to learn/grow out of it but its hard to have that much patience! having tantrums back after they stopped is the hardest to take!
