7.5 month baby started spitting out food/blowing raspberries

He's just started to do this yesterday. A lot. Gone from really enjoying his food and being a good eater to mucking about, spitting it everywhere, blowing raspberries etc. Not just with new food, but anything (except yoghurts). He does have another cold, but not sure how that would affect things. He also does it with DH too, not just me. Is he doing it just because he can and it's fun? Is it because he doesn't now like any food and is suddenly turning into a fussy eater? He laughs often when he does it and looks me right in the eye. How should I handle it? Ignore? Distract with toys? I've tried being stern and saying no etc, but to no avail really. I assume this too shall pass...? Any advice gratefully received!

Ha ha, my ds did this, totally normal!
He's just learnt how to do it, so wants to do it all the time!

I just laughed its so funny . DS is one and still does this occasionally but went through a a stage of doing it all the time...it's just a phase and he and I laughed so much when he did it I didn't have the heart to try and get him to stop!

My 7 month old DS sits and blows raspberries constantly. He also has a perfectly timed night time one saved for me - it goes like this 'night night darling, mummy loves you' cue Phhttttt!!!!

My advice is to stop spoon feeding purees and feed more finger foods. Both of mine did this, but if you think about it spoon feedimg they have no idea what they are getting (apart from with yoghurt). Finger foods let them feel first so puts eating in their control.

Thanks all for replies and sorry for delay but been offline. It's actually got slightly better today but just going to roll with it and cover us both us! It's true though, he never does it with yoghurt! He also thinks it's hilarious and it really is all I can do not to laugh back, bless him! Hey ho, new week, new change!

He's doing it because it's a new skill and he enjoys doing it. If you ignore and give him finger foods he'll explore the sensation fully, it will lose its novelty value and he'll almost completely stop doing it.

My (now ten year old) DD2 learned thins new skill for the first time while sitting at the table next to the Ofsted inspector who was halfway through inspecting my childminding setting. Luckily she was a nice lady who saw the funny side of being liberally splattered with orange baby food
