How do u bath your 1 year old?

DD is just turning 1 and we bath her every night. She has 1 of those bath seats but she's getting a bit big for it now. How do u bath yours?? (Without wanting to sound like a cadburys cream egg advert!) Grin we used to have one of those non-slip suckery bath mat things but it went a bit mouldy quite quickly - I used to take it out of the bath and hang it over the edge every night too. When I do take DD out of the bath seat to have a splash around on her tummy, I have to keep my hand under her chin to stop her from dunking & drinking all of the soapy water!! Perhaps I'm doing it too deep? Help.

I bath my dd on one of those mats but I just change it after a while. She sits waist deep in water soaking me to death. She does sometimes lurch face down though.

In the bath Grin

My DD is 18 months old. When she was younger, either myself or DH would get in with her. If we were on our own then she would go in on her own and we would lean over and hold her. We also had/have a non slip mat too.

HTH Smile

Dd1 never had a bath seat. We used to get in with her when she was tiny, sometimes still do but she's 2.5 now so takes up a lot more room.

You could try putting a bit less water in and getting a new grippy mat (Wilkos do them really cheap, can throw away and replace regularly).

My DS has gone in the big bath with dd since he was newborn. Once he could sit on dry land at 6 mths he could sit in the bath (with bath mat).

God DS is 13mo and for the past few months has stood up in the bath and walks up and down it i just let him if he falls down i just help him up i figure he won't drown if i'm right next to him, i did hope a few falls would deter him but he still won't sit

We have a soft polyester bath mat which can go in the washing machine and is also Antibacterial and mould resistant. My DD has never had a bath seat, she is sitting on the mat with not too deep water.

I rarely bath mine anymore... I don't have a bath in the house and instead have used a plastic bath in a frame to save my back. She still fits in it but I have been taking her into the shower with me since she was tiny so she now tends to have a lot of showers. She will happily sit or stand in the shower tray (no non slip mat, so shoot me!) and play with her toys/drink the water. Makes life much easier and she's fab when we go swimming as she is used to the shower.

I just put him in, no seat no mat, he just sits nicely so seems safe enough, although he is in there with his 2 brothers so not really much room for them to start standing up and messing about!

I spray the back of our bath mat with the super strong anti mould spray from Lakeland. It keeps it mould free.

DD has been in the bath since long before 1 year. She is now 22 months. We use a child friendly bath may which doesn't go mouldy at all. She has a couple of inches of water (apart from the occasional Friday night bath with me or DH when we fill up the tub and put on the jacuzzi :)

Mines is 17mo now but since he could sit up on his own he's sat in the bath.

No seat, no bath mat (bath mats are really grotty and harbour so much bacteria).

I used to get in with him when he was little up to about 10 months but it's too cramped now.

He has slipped a couple of times but I'm beside him to help him up and I think it makes him more aware of the water, he learned to walk in the bath by walking up and down it!

And he has way more than a couple of inches of water! I don't see any reason why they can't just have a normal bath at that age. Confused

Usually DS is in the bath with DH or me, unless we're in a hurry - then he goes in the baby bath inside the bath. Has done since he was newborn. He's 19 months now and 95th centile, so not small either!

I tried a lot of different things with DD1 and found the Aquapod seat to be the best and it lasts them for ages, definitely until they no longer need one. I ditched the mat that came with it and now DD2 15 months loves it too.

Hmmm am feeling bad now my DS has been in the big bath with no seat and no mat since he was about 3mths old. I would just lean over and support him and since about 5nths he's been sitting in it independently and splashing about having a great time. Before 3mths he'd come in the shower with me or DP.

You can get textured stickers for the bath that mean you don't need a bath mat - they get cleaned as you clean the bath, iyswim.
