Baby wraps/slings/carriers whats best?

Hello. DD is 5 weeks and loves to cuddle does not settle if put down during the day. I'm an active person and drives me a teeny bit mad being restricted to sitting/not having use of my arms.

Ive read in another Mumsnet post that a baby wrap "Moby wrap" is a great idea to get about and keep the little one happy. My question is: I already have a baby carrier is that as efficient as a wrap? Mines a little bulky and doesnt seem as affective as a wrap/sling.. feels like itd get in the way a bit?

Wrap, Sling or Carrier? Whats best? Will the benefits of a wrap be worth the extra cost? Or will a carrier suffice?

Any comments welcome.

Thanks :)

Google sling libraries, hopefully there will be one near you. You can go and try out different ones and borrow one. It really is a case of everyone is different.

I loved the Kari-Me wrap sling, was very comfortable and DS2 adored being in it.

I would try a sling for such a small baby. I've got a baby carrier as well but a sling is much better for a small baby. I've got the celeb sling from ebay (same as moby and Karime but much cheaper. The baby is facing you and resting against your chest, really snug like what they are used to from the womb. It's basically a long piece of fabric and you wrap it around yourself, tie a knot and put baby inside. But actually quite easy to do. And supports babys head.

Mine loved the Moby wrap from 5 weeks but at 12 weeks I find it easier to pop her in the Bjorn miracle carrier. Both are good. Moby is better for smaller babies and my baby was very comfortable in hers

The close caboo is great for tinies, nice & snug for them, but not too much of a faff to use.

I have the Moby Wrap and I love it now, when my daughter is 7 months old, however when she was newborn she was too little to put in it. The minimum weight for a mody wrap is 8 pounds. Also, my daughter didn't like being in the moby wrap until I discovered she hated having her feet covered, so we just always use the hug hold. I've found my sling to be an invaluable resource. I always use my sling, and I don't even have a pram.

I hope this helps.

It depends on what the kiddo likes! I have a Moby and while I like it, Yunior isn't sold on it yet, but he's young still...
He's ok in a more structured carrier, but he doesn't like any of them for very long.
