Drugs to fend off tiredness?

For me, not the kids!

DD2 is teething/has cold and was waking all last night, prob. got c.3-4 hours sleep which is half my usual (kids usually v.good sleepers). I can't cope with how I feel today. Being tired makes me so irritable, every request from DD1 or DD2 makes me p*ssed off, I can't be bothered cooking or cleaning, I'm sick of looking after them both and today is only the first day since DH went back to work after Xmas.

Coffee/tea just makes me feel nauseous, I've got a throbbing headache. I keep going into the downstairs loo to scream and knock some sense into myself but so far no good. Any suggestions?

(May not read for a while as DD2 is screaming, again).

thanks. DD2 still won't settle. She had calpol at 6pm and was put down at 7. She hasn't slept yet and we've been up and down with her since. 20 min to go and I'll give calprofen. Tonight is exactly when medised would have been good for all of us. She needs to rest but can't settle and a second night of no sleep which will potentially also wake DD1 is not ideal but inevitable. Feeling miserable.

V tired here too. Might not work for you, but getting out for some fresh air and meeting up with other people helps me (a bit) - and helps keep dd occupied.

Have you tried cuddling her to sleep? Are you sure it's not an ear infection?

It's hard when good sleepers turn bad but at least you know it's a blip. I find drinking loads of water and taking a walk mid afternoon really helps.

Get dh to take over so that you can go to bed. If she still hasn't settled by half twelve/One then dh can wake you and go to bed himself. At least you will get a bit of sleep that way.

You have my sympathy. Ds3 was a dreadful sleeper for years.
