9 month old started waking for 2 hours in night from sleeping through

The title says it all really. DD was sleeping through 7-7, now waking for at differing times once a night for 1-2 hours for last 2 weeks. Wakes crying, seeming very distressed.
Can't see / feel evidence of teeth. There are no other symptoms (rosy cheeks, sore bum etc), so not sure if could be this.
Tends to settle eventually by mixture of cuddles, calpol (after lots of cuddles sometimes), sometime 4 oz milk too (don't think she's hungry just finds comforting.

Really difficult to leave when crying for longer than a couple of mins as DC1 in same room.

Any ideas to help please?

OP, are you me?! We have the EXACT issue here but with a 9mo boy not girl - and we can have two of those wake-ups a night. I am getting beside myself with lack of sleep.

Hope someone who can help will be along soon!

Ah I am not alone!

Have had this happen several times in the last month with dd2 (just 10 months). I keep it really boring, dark room, no talking to her, just cuddles and
A feed.

If mine is obviously in pain I give her Calpol and maybe play some soothing music or until it kicks in.

Have put her in the baby carrier on my front twice a slept sitting up so that she can't faff about kicking me in the head or pulling my hair.

It's the 9 month sleep regression. Next one is due at 18 months Xmas Smile.

It's good to know we're not the only ones! JingleJ - if it is 'sleep regression' when does it end? what can you do to improve the situation, or is it just sitting it out?

DC1 wakes at 6 and the lack of sleep is killing us! Xmas Shock

Think its just like most sleep regressions, no point in trying any form of sleep training as its just a huge developmental leap. Did you manage to read the link? Have you got the wonder weeks book or signed upto the emails? There is some good information on developmental leaps on wonder weeks.

Dr Sears has some good advice here and Kellymom on sleeping through the night Xmas Smile.

Thanks Jingle! It helps just to know it's normal and not something I'm doing (or not doing). Didn't get this with DC1 so I've been knocked sideways by this one.

Last night he had us up from 1-4.30am and I even fell asleep exhausted on the floor of the bathroom in my MIL's freezing farmhouse (where DS is currently sleeping while we're here for Christmas and New Year. I know. This is not helping).
