If anyone has any ideas on how I can make car journeys more pleasant for my LO (and hence for me too) I would be grateful!

He screams and screams. On probably 75% of all car journeys. Sometimes he will cry himself to sleep Sad but often he will cry the whole way. Upsetting for him and me! If I'm in the back with him I can distract him or hold my finger/a dummy in his mouth, but this isn't any use when I need to drive.

I have tried making sure his clothing is comfy, the seat settings are not too tight or digging into him, checked the temperature in the car, only put him in the car seat when he's fed and happy, or only put him in the car seat when he's tired... Nothing seems to work!

I usually limit my journrys to less than 30 mins, but my grandmother is very old and infirm (in a care home) 3hrs drive away. I would love to take my DS (her DGGS) to meet her but am apprehensive of the journey.

Any advice?

3 hours in a car seat is far too long for a 3 month old anyway, so for the longer journey I would consider the train. If you book in advance you can get some really cheap tickets.

They do get used to the car eventually, but it is incredibly stressful driving anywhere with a screaming baby.

I think you are already doing everything you can. Mine used to be calmer with music playing, and with something interesting to look at - you can get various things to attach to the seat that are colourful to look at.

My lo used to dislike the car seat until we got one of those toys that wrap around the handle and hangs down in front of him. He's just turned 3months and now just sits and giggles at it Hmm
