Formula fed 5 month old doing explosive watery poos every 2/3 days....

Hi ladies, can I please have some advice?

My 5 month old is exclusively formula fed and for about 6 weeks (since he was about 13 weeks) has gone from normal mustardy poops to dark brown, watery blowouts every few days. He strains and acts really uncomfortable when he goes too.

I can find heaps of stuff on constipation or diarrhoea, but this seems to be a combination of the 2!

I just want my little man to be his happy little self again.

I am seeing my doctor with a stool sample tomorrow, but he is usually useless so any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Could be lactose intolerence?

Not sure if this is helpful, but my DS does a similar thing. He's 4 months but has been formula fed since he was 5 weeks. He now does his poos every 2/3 days and it's quite a struggle for the little guy. He gets a red face and makes a very low growling sound, poor kid. It's also quite explosive - never pretty if I can't get him changed immediately. My HV told me it was perfectly normal and just his digestive system growing and developing.

Google colic massage ad I think it's the first hit on YouTube. It's a simple little massage that gels release trapped wind and aid bowel movements. My DS is EBF but struggled with wind and poops and it's really helped. It might ep in the interim whilst the Dr's do their thing.

Thanks. I went and saw the doc today and she said it sounded like he was just having a bit of bowel trouble and gave me a prescription for colief. Just tried some on him and he hated it in his milk! Hopefully he gets used to it and it starts helping him....
