3 month DS Constant Crying

well, not constant 24 hours a day but feels like it. Unless he's feeding (which he'd happily do forever), or sleeping (rubbish 30 min naps) I can get about 5-10 minutes Of happy playing and gurgling before he's off screaming again. It's wearing me down.

I can't play or read with 2 year old dd when he's crying and when he's actually in the sling taking one of his 30min naps he constantly struggles to get out of it.

He's just 12 weeks and I'd been hoping he would have turned that magic corner by now but the crying goes on.

He's been seen twice by a cranial osteo who said he was as tight as a champagne cork. Another session due next week

Any words of wisdom or glimmers of hope that this too shall pass......soon? My head hurts :-(

Has he been checked for tongue tie? My DS was very much like this and it turned out to be tongue tie and upper lip tie. If there a local bfing support group you could go to?

Could it be relux? Milk intolerance?

Babies with reflux often like feeding because they don't reflux whilst feeding, they also nap little because reflux is worst when lying down.

DD1 was just like this - DH and I both agree that that phase was the single most difficult thing we have ever been through. I suspect it was some sort of food issue that was causing acute tummy ache - during that period she was EBF so it might have been something that came through my milk.

She miraculously stopped screaming at around 6 months, but it did get less after 3. Now she's 14 (years not months!) and we have a whole different set of problems - not really, she's lovely!

Check ears, ear pain gave our DD2 two years of broken sleep. If ears are a problem the pain is pretty bad. DD2 basically suffered from glue ear and lnumerous ear infections.

DD was like that. It turned out she had silent acidic reflux, so no vomiting, just screaming & an inability to be in anyway content! Once we sorted that out very gradually she turned a corner. Went to bed without screaming, occupied herself for more than 10 mins, didn't need the constant carrying, slept for more than 20 minute bursts etc. Maybe speak to your GP. Good luck.

Thanks for all your replies, not feeling quite so alone now. Will check out the high needs Babies thread for some more hand holding.

He has his 12 week jabs soon so will discuss ear, reflux and tt possibilities with her. Have significantly reduced dairy intake to see if it helps as he's a windy boy, and had begun to wonder about tt as he does tick quite a few of the boxes, but not consistently. Just had the weirdest evening where instead of his usual cluster feeding for eons, he didn't want to feed at all, and just lay on the floor cooing and gurgling - like he knew I'd just posted about him. He will also happily go into cot around 9pm for nighttime sleep and after night feeds without a murmer so doubting possible reflux, but then he's quite sicky during the day.

Had quite low expectations for ds's arrival as dd had been a rubbish napper too, but at least she was happy and content when awake, not making my head hurt!

This really sounds like it could be tongue tie to me, I would get him checked for that.
