2 years old and suddenly clingy

Hi all
My recently 2 year old DS has gone from a really social, bubbly and independent little boy into one who can't cope unless he has me in his sight
Even going to the toilet results in him standing wailing "mummy I can't see you"

I went out the other night(a rarity) and left him with his nan (who lives with us and has done since he was born) and when DP got home it took DS 2 hours of cuddling to calm him down


I'm praying that it's just a stage as it means I can't leave him and was hoping to start using the crèche at my local gym

Any advise on strategies to help ease this would be hugely appreciated!
