Is living under flight path bad for baby

I'm about to have first baby and moving to new area of London which I've just discovered is under the Heathrow flight path. The noise really upsets me, and I'm worried about how this is affecting the baby, but people tell me I'll get used to it. I'm also worried that it might be bad for my new born baby - does anyone have any experience or opinion on this?

Double glazing.
And new born babies will sleep through ANYTHING. (except when you really want them to of course).

thanks - I thought I was fine with planes, well all traffic noise as grew up in central london - but hadn't experienced heathrow flight path = one or more planes a minute from 6am - 11pm - just good to know it won't cause problems for the baby, I'm sure I can sort myself out

We're in SW London with the planes and TBH, my DS seems to quite like it. Babies and young children love any kind of white noise...which is what it becomes very quickly.

And in the early days, you're able to work out if it's early or REEEEEEALLY early if there are planes going Wink when baby wakes up. The planes seem to start before the birds BTW!

Seriously, I wouldn't worry too much. And get some decent earpligs if you're a light sleeper - these are my fave boots. Oh, and I started using these when I lived in a flat on a busy rd...not because of the planes!

Good luck

Bad for the baby?? Are you kidding?? If that was the case several million of us in London and other cities would be in big trouble.

Babies will sleep through anything, especially if they are used to it from the beginning. Also, one of your child's first word's WILL be 'aeroplane' (at about 14 months in our case), which will impress everyone you know who doesn't live in London because it has three syllables. And when your toddler is about to throw a tantrum you'll be able to distract them by pointing at the sky and shouting 'look aeroplane' whenever you need to and you know there'll be one along any second.

Oh and it's more like 4.15am to midnight by the way.

Well I grew up on RAF bases/ near airports and I'm ok :) you will get used to the noise, I actually miss it now.

We live in SW and you simply get used to it. No worries for the baby either ;)

I was brought up under flight paths, too, great fun! WE used to shout at the planes all day.
