Hi everyone, I need some advice/tips (if there are any) about my little ones change in her routine... She is almost 5 months old and the past 5 nights have been very hard (for me not her lol)and completely unusual for her! sad she is waking between 3am and 5am and even after a feed is wide awake for at least 1 1/2 to 2 hours. This probably doesn't sound too bad but she has never done this, from day one it has always been up for a bottle and straight to sleep!! I go back to work in 5 weeks and this would be a nightmare if it doesn't settle back down so any comments would be appreciated! Thank you :-D

sounds like a developmental spurt. I can't recall if there is normally one at 5m though. There's a book called the wonder weeks that tells you about them.

My ds has done the 15m one. waking like you describe. It lasted a couple of weeks then he magically started sleeping through for the first time. Till now that is when he is going through the 18m one. Joy.

Not all spurts affect all dc's.

The hour and a half thing is pretty common as that is one "cycle" till they are ready to sleep again. Sometimes we miss it and it becomes 3 hours. sad

My experience is that they get over it themself after a couple of weeks but others may have found differently.

Naps, early nights and able would be my advice to you. smile

just realised she is not yet 5m so it could well be the 4m spurt (commonly known as the 4m sleep regression). Think it is normally counted from edd rather than dob.

my little guy is just over 5 mths and has just come out of the tail end of this! Last night was the first normal night in 2.5 weeks. He had slept through since about 8 wks then all of a sudden was waking up several times a night and needing to eat around 5 am then playing for wayyy to(o) long for my liking.

I believe this was one of the wonder weeks growth / developmental spurts. He was eating two boobs at every sitting (very unusual for him) and gained over a pound in a week and a half.

Perservere and keep things quite and dark during the night, reminding her that it's actually sleep time. She'll remember and magically stop waking soon enough. (fingers crossed anyway).
