hi everyone,

my 6 month old ds has been making straining noises sometimes till he goes red in the face for a little while now, i think its frustration with a bit of teething pains..wondering if any other mums had the same and tell me it will stop please??

Sometimes they are simply trying out all sorts of different vocal noises.... I have had three babies and nanny to many and my own babies certainly did this. Depends if your DS looks stressed when he does this or is he actually quite happy. Sounds to me like he is full of energy and its a way of using it... . . . . .its boys probably!!!!

Hello, we have this too (7mo) to be honest i'd assumed it was wind, as she also sometimes does similar when poo'ing...in fact we had a big straining/red face session this morning and i was expecting to find a big nappy full, but there was nothing there (so assume it was wind!). Interesting it might be to do with teething tho?

not sure when it stops, i've been known to go a bit red in the face myself (and i'm pushing 40!) Blush

We have this (ds 7months) and is normally followed by a big poo!

My ds does this in short bursts - he's only 9weeks - always think it'll be nappy action but it never is! No idea, I'm afraid, but he doesn't seem unhappy when doing it even though he goes quite red.

Haha we had this, did think it was very odd at the time.Blush
Just think of it as experimenting with communicating. My DS roaring stage and Donald Duck stage was hilarious.

we've had this since DS was a few weeks, (8 mo now) thought it was him straining to go to the loo at 1st as he did suffer with constipation but he actually goes completely quiet when filling his nappy! No idea what this noise is but he still does it every now and then!
