Night time waking

Morning! After yet another night of no sleep kinda felt like sme advice wouldn't go amiss! I've been here before asking about my 2.3yo DS and his early morning waking, and was helped a great deal - especially when I realised it wasn't to early at all and ended up feeling really very sorry for some of you! But am now getting a bit desperate again. DS has every night for the past three weeks woken up in the night, screaming and sobbing and calling for me. He went through a stage of this a wee while ago so I implemented a routine where I would go and check he was ok, and then basically leave him to get on with it. After three nights it all stopped, but this time this hasn't worked. Last night he was awake at two and eventually he ended up in bed with me for over an hr, as he was getting so distressed. Eventually he calmed down and went back to his own bed, but was wide awake and raring to go at 6 this morning! I have tried cutting out his daytime sleep (he still has a couple of hrs) but if anything it made him worse!

So, do I leave him to scream no matter how stressed out he gets :( or do I carry on as I am and hope he'll grow out of it? I don't think he's scared of the dark or anything like that, because I have a nightlight on in my room constantly and last night he actually made me turn it off!!

Thanks!! :)

My ds began, aged 2, yelling in the night and we didn't know what was going on but this changed when he was a couple of years older to night terrors where he used to chase round the house trying to get away from something and he really looked terrified. They never happened every night but a few times a month and have only had one in the last year and he is 11 now!

Hope it stops soon x
