Toddler growth spurts and milk intake

DS is almost 17 months, for first year he did the classic increase in milk requirement around growth spurts, teething and big development milestones.
Now he's on maybe 15-20oz of full fat cows milk a day, and 3+ good meals a day.
However the last few nights he has doubled his 7oz pre bed bottle, exhausted but utterly refusing to settle without having the second bottle or waking overnight for more milk!
Does the milk/growth spurt thing still apply once they are weaned and toddling?
Or is just starting to play up at bedtime?
