My almost 5 yo DD is confident, outgoing and well adjusted, with the exception of 3 things : Bedlinen, socks and shoes and it's driving me nuts :(

Her bedclothes have to be tucked in tightly at the bottom, if it happens to work loose in the night, screaming and shouting ensues. A few nights ago she was sound asleep, I went in and pulled out one corner of the quilt and within 5 mins she was awake and shouting.....weird

Socks and tights, or more specifically, the seams on socks and tights, if there's the slightest lump or bump at the edges, they have to be changed. I only buy her socks in Next, cos they're the least seamey.

Shoes have to be tightened to the point where they're compromising blood flow, have stopped buying anything with buckles, a least with velcro, there's a bit of give.

Does anyone else have a child with strange habits or is it just mine Blush

The socks at john lewis have seams on the outside, so don't irritate! (ankle socks, school type socks.)

You can actually buy weighted blankets- I don't know any suppliers, but someone over on SN would know as frequently children with ASD need them.

I think lots of 5yo have strange, quirky preferences or 'tics'... I'm sure our lives and preferences seem odd to them too Grin

I'm sure she'll grow out of it.

It sounds like sensory avoidance/seeking behaviour. Have you read The Out of Sync Child book?? My dd is nearly 2 and has sensory integration issues it's hard work
