Witching hour

My 12 week old screams non stop between 5pm and 6pm every night. This is regardless of whether we have been home all day, out all day, she has slept in the day, she has not slept in the day etc. I just can't work out what to do? She sleeps through the night. Takes 5 full feeds of 180mls of milk during the day when she is generally very settled. It is just this hour where she gets herself ridiculously worked up. Any ideas? Thank you.

Hi
This is very very common, and it will stop soon. Colic can be a problem in the evenings, but if u r sure its not that then its just one of those things, nothing but pacing and distraction techniques really. U could try going for a drive or something. Usually only lasts a few wks, but be sure to rule out colic.

2 out of 3 of my children had colic and were like this until 18 weeks or so. I used to sling them and walk around praying for them to stop.

My daughter was exactly the same, the only thing that would calm her was the hammock in the garden!! Would swaddle her in a blanket put a hat on her and swing her!! (was October)
I hope she soon passes through this for your sanity!

My DD is 12 weeks too. Between 5 and 6 she goes in her sling, it's the only time of day I need it. Without it she would scream. With it she nods off for her final nap of the day, even though she naps in the pram/car seat/bouncy cradle quite happily at any other time of the day.
She's getting very used to this now, it's almost becoming a sort of 'before bedtime' routine!

Thanks everyone. Not sure how to rule out colic but as she is so happy all day and the screaming stops when we go for the bath at 6 and she sleeps all night so well, I am fairly sure it isn't that. We'll just continue distraction techniques until she grows out of it (hopefully)! :)
