Iced cake Refridgerate???

Can I ask some storage advice? If I ice a cake (butter icing) today, would it be better overnight in the fridge or in a cupboard?

My brain appears to have melted in a pre-party-panic.

I don't refrigerate for butter icing, just keep it in an air-tight container. I refrigerated one with cream cheese in the icing, it was fine removed an hour before eating, apparently the sponge needs the time to get to room temperature. (So if you decide to put it into the fridge as the party panic escalates just take it out an hour before you want to eat it)

Airtight container for buttercream. Fridge for cream cheese icing.

I'd like to claim this was because I had never done this before but......
