How do you make a recipe?

DH had a great idea, I could make and sell dog biscuits. I'm good at baking and I enjoy it, but only if I have a good recipe to follow. I don't think it would be right to just google dog biscuit recipes and use the ones I find online, I feel I should come up with my own recipes, but how do you do that? The biscuits I would be making would be tasty for dogs, so sardine, cheese, meaty ones etc...

Find a recipe on-line to start with, then modify it a bit to get what you want. in terms of flavour/nutrients etc.

As for flavours, dogs will eat their own poo... so you actually need to market them to the dog owners grin

What Binary said.

No one truly invents are recipe, they are all modifications of existing ones.

And yes, the owners need to like how the flavours sound much more than a dog appreciates how they taste smile

Thanks for the link 001, very handy! It's not just about how they sound to the owners. My Border is a real fussy git and won't eat certain flavours, for example, she won't touch Pedigree milk bones, marrowbone rolls or those cheesy treats that they do, but she'd happily devour their gravy bones!

Blanche, did you mean 001 and not Binary? grin

I respond to both grin

If you look at any of the "how to make the perfect..." series in the Guardian, you can see the process of creating your own recipe.

Yes - all of her! She is a Thrice Named poster, which I thought was pretty smart:
