Soft and squishy Hot cross bun recipe?

Just wandering if anyone knows how to make their HCBs soft and squishy at home...just bought one from the bakery and it was perfect. Mine have always come out a bit "solid" in the past. Any tips would be lovely, thank you!!!

I've made three types of HCBs, all from Dan Lepard's recipes, and they are all soft and lovely. Here:

Tea cakes, really, but hey ho, they are lovely.

Made these last night.

These are yummy too.

And I think he came on MN to do a bake-along and there's a HCB recipe for that too.
