I want to ice my cake and then use golden glitter sand stuff to put the number 2 on top. What would be the best icing to use?

Also, what filling shall I use? Shall I go for cream or chocolate?

Equal parts melted choc and cream is good eg 4 oz choc to 4 floz cream

Nutella?

Chocolate butter cream?

Chocolate Philadelphia mixed with icing sugar?

Just chocolate?

That glitter sticks to anything and I mean anything so you might want to put newspaper down!

Ah, thanks for the warning.

I suppose I'm looking for something that will be smooth and glossy.

Melted choc mixed with a knob of butter or marg to give gloss then. Not Scotblok!

There was a thread all about using ganache for a glossy finish...

here - starts off with random baking chat I think

150g plain choc melted with 65g butter. Stir to mix, allow to cool and pour over cake. It forms a sort of peelable layer. You can also whisk it until sort of dark milk chocolate in colour and then trowel it on like frosting.

Depending on the size of your cake you may need to make double quantities.
