I have known many 'alexs' who have been inspirational to me over the years so would like to use, so far have:

boys:
Alexander, Alexandru, Alexus, Xander, Alec

girls:
Alexis, Alexia, Alexandra, Alexandria, Lexi

Do you have any other ideas?
I adore it as a boys names, but not 100% convinced for girls name, maybe middle name though

Ales (with a 'hook' above the s), pronounced Al-esh. it's the czech variant of alex. we've used it as a middle name for DS (who is 1/2 czech) after many alexanders/ales s we've known!

Alexander is very common in my family, so I know many (got one myself):

Variations/Nicknames I've heard include:
Alex, Alec, Ander, Andy, Xand, Xander, Sandy & Sascha

And for girls I've also heard Andra & Lexi

Just wanted to say, I'm an 'Alexandra' and I absolutely love my name. It's a classic name that I've been able to shorten or use in full. I'd say name the child the full Alexander or Alexandre and then let them chose whether to shorten in later lfe...

Like Sallypuss I'm also an Alexandra and adore my name. I agree with using the full name and letting the child shorten it later.

i have a 5 m/o Alexandra and its lovely to see how grownups with the name love it. Ours is an Alex for short but she's actually named after the wonderful Sandy Denny (who was really an Alexandra)
