Marlon?

Any thoughts on Marlon for a boy? Too 'Brando'?! I like it, possibly with Marley as a nn. Expected DH to hate it but was surprised when he was quite keen!

Other boy contenders are Toby, Noah, Elwood and Henry...

Yes I did think "Brando" straight away. I like Henry best from your other choices

hmm, my first thought was Emmerdale! It could grow on me though, I don't hate it and quite like Marley for nn, and it is different without being too self-consciously cool...

I do love Noah though!

I didn't realise it was an Emmerdale character! Not a Dingle?!

I do like it a lot, but hope hormones aren't affecting my judgement!!

Love Noah too, but worry it's now v v popular.

Yes i thought of Marlon Dingle first too. Noah is also in Emmerdale and a Dingle child but you obviously like these names so shouldn't be a reason not to have them.

I like Toby from the others you have given.

A friend of mine has a son called Marlon. I do immediately think of Brando, but I think it's quite "cool"!

yes yes yes! never seen emmerdale, and marlon brando is not a bad association. good name for kid and also top lawyer/plumber (ie versatile)everyone will know how to pronounce it too.

I also think Brando, or that children's character. Is it from the large family, cannot remember, anyway it is some kind of animal.
Not keen tbh.

I like it but prefer the Mahlon spelling

Report
skidoodly · 01/05/2010 22:18

For many people in the world Marlon and Mahlon are not homonyms.

Mahlon is ridiculous, like spelling your child's name Hawwy if you had a speech impediment that meant you couldn't pronounce your Rs

Marlon is nice and nobody is bothered about Emmerdale characters. He'll of died in an on screen village tragedy in a couple of years. Noah is lovely if you are not bothered about popularity

Marlon - reminds me of 'The Last Noo-Noo' by Jill Murphy Grin

I think you should listen to the Johnny Cash song about a boy named Sue.

Oh - have no glasses and have just realised you are asking about Marlon not Marion!

Marlon is lovely. And if people do have any previous associations then these will change when they meet your ds - they will associate Marlon with him Smile.

Marlon is much nicer and more interesting than Toby, Elwood, Noah or Henry imo. Marley is a cute nickname whilst he's young.

Love Henry, Elwood is okay, Noah is uber popular at the mo and Marlon seems very 'wet' to me ...but that's just meGrin
