I quite like it but there are two ways of saying it Air Ron and Arran and my friend gets annoyed when people say the wrong one.

DS1 is called Aaron, and he is a lovely, kind, considerate boy. Love the name, we pronounce it Arran.

My DH suggested this name for our son but I have a sneaky feeling he only picked it because it was the first name listed in the baby name book and he couldn't be arsed looking properly!

We didn't chose it in the end, but it's a nice name.

I don't like it because of the 2 distinct ways of pronouncing it. I've always pronounced it Air-ron so if I wanted to call a DC 'Arran' I'd probably spell it Arran - to follow on nicely from Lewis, Harris and other Hebridean islands :-)

My ds is called Arran after the Isle of Arran. it does annoy me though when people pronounce it Air-on. Also if you do spell it Arran, be prepared for all different spellings. Ds has had Arron, Aaran, Arun to name but a few!!

I'd just call a DS Arran or Aran if I were to pronounce Aaron that way. Aaron is more AIR-on, in my book. TBH, I think Aaron is very 70s.

Well I appreciate everyone's opinions but is it really 'chavtastic'?

I'm not going to say what names are purely 'chavtastic' around here as I might offend someone but I really wouldn't put the name Aaron/Aron/Arran in the 'Chav book of baby names'

It's only a possibility anyway but it's good to see how it would percieved in RL.

I would not say it was chavtastic at all.

I like it pronounced Arron. I hardly know any either most of the ones I know are teenage or older.

I think it's awful pronounced Air-on though makes me think of Hyacinth Bucket.

I think it depends on what area you live as well, I've never heard of Aaron being pronounced as Air-on here (NE).

My son is Arran, for the scottish island. My husband grew up in prestwick in Scotland and spent a lot of his childhood looking over at the beautiful island! I think its a lovely name and any of the spellings are great.
