Lucas IMO is the nicest

not keen on the rest personally

sandyfoz Tue 10-Nov-09 10:51:50

Do you like it with the K?

displayuntilbestbefore Tue 10-Nov-09 10:53:54

not sure about the names, esp the spellings
what about Kieran, Lucas or Dylan instead?

The only thing with deviating from spelling of commonly used names is that you might have a problem with people always spelling it differently to your chosen spelling.

sandyfoz Tue 10-Nov-09 10:57:58

ok thanks for the advise. The only Lukas i know spells it this way, that's why i like it i guess!

displayuntilbestbefore Tue 10-Nov-09 11:00:10

it's a nice name and Lukas can carry using a k instead of a c but I'm really not keen on Kiron without the e!

posieparker Tue 10-Nov-09 11:05:21

I hate names that are misspelt, very very naff.

Your list is a bit too popular for me too.

FreeTheGuidoOne Tue 10-Nov-09 11:07:29

Kiran- missing e, otherwise okay
Lukas (i like it with the k)- prefer it with a c
Bailey- surname
Dillon- surname
Archie- nice but very popular
Alfie- nice but very, very popular

sandyfoz Tue 10-Nov-09 11:09:23

blame the name book as thats where i found them lol

fingbusymum Tue 10-Nov-09 11:32:38

Too popular for me too. Stella McCartney has a Bailey, so that's out. Also, anything you can find on those mass-produced bedroom name plates is beyond the pale.

How about:
Victor
Kit
Spike
Jimmy
Frank
Inigo
Ossie (Ossian)
Magnus
Mick

Popular names are popular for a reason - because they are so nice!

I like your list, maybe apart from Bailey. Good luck and have fun deciding!

shoobidoo Tue 10-Nov-09 11:39:55

I'm afraid I don't like any of your suggestions, mainly because they're all very very popular and imo a little dull.

How about

Elliot
Quentin
Dominic

also love Magnus, Inigo and Victor!

sandyfoz Tue 10-Nov-09 11:46:03

What is soo wrong with popular names? my nephew is 11 and called Jack and he loves his name

ok how about

Zak
Jay
Dylan spelt this way
theo
rio
Curtis

are these better????

shoobidoo Tue 10-Nov-09 11:52:36

Of course there is nothing WRONG with popular names. Some people just prefer to give their children names that are less popular.

I, for example, have a very common name and in my class in the 70s I was always known as a X surname, which I really didn't like. I was always envious of my friends who had more unique names.

I also find that very popular names date more than timeless, classic ones. They become so associated to an era (e.g. Sharon, Tracey of the 70s).

And, lastly, to me 'naming' a child is doing exactly that - naming it to be uniquely Well, uniquely as possible) identified.

And you did ask our opinions. Feel free to ignore them smile.

Lukas,
Archie.

OP are you after other suggestions, or just want to know what people like from your list?

sandyfoz Tue 10-Nov-09 11:57:07

I'm not offended. Thanks for your opinion.

sandyfoz Tue 10-Nov-09 11:58:24

Yes other suggestions would be really good thanks
I'm really at a loss tbh

diddl Tue 10-Nov-09 12:09:46

I do like Dylan, Zak & Theo from your other list.

Fave names of mine are Hamish, Rufus, Gabriel, Noah.

Also like James & Michael.

bogie Tue 10-Nov-09 12:18:52

Lewis
Ewan
Toby
Zachary/Zach
Dexter

near me there are way way way to many Dylans, Alfies, Archies and lucas'

diddl Tue 10-Nov-09 12:21:42

Joshua,
Jasper.

TopSop Tue 10-Nov-09 12:30:43

I like Lukas with the k, bit different.

Not sure about the others. Kiran just looks wrong to me - how about Ciaran as an alternative spelling (my 9 yr old DN is called Kieran! so it's a good name!)

randomimposter Tue 10-Nov-09 15:08:38

I LOVE Dillon as was my mum's maiden name, so I would use as a middle "family" name.

How about Luca/Luka? Rafferty or Malachy?

I also like Bailey.

Agree there are LOTS of Alfies and Archies, though both are nice names.

Any other DC names to "go" with?
